About
Born in Southern California, Mercer Warriner grew up in Baltimore in a creaky Victorian house surrounded by books, vinyl records, and an assortment of friendly animals large and small. As a teenager, she had the crazy idea of becoming an archeologist and traveling the world to study ancient civilizations. Shortly after arriving at the University of Pennsylvania, she realized she missed reading fiction and switched her major to English literature. After receiving her master’s degree in English from Columbia University, she worked as an editor in book publishing, a middle school teacher, and a grant writing director before taking up her pen (or out her keyboard) to write children’s and young adult fiction. She lives in Brooklyn and upstate New York with her husband and energetic golden retriever who is an excellent writing muse.
